Courtrooms are places where emotions can run high and tempers can be lost. Due to this criminals in the dock and their supporters can launch tirades at judges, court staff and those in the public gallery, sometimes they exclaim their innocence or burst into tears.
Just this week, David O’Brien was handed a fourth life sentence for attempting to stab the neck of a prison officer in October 2022. However, the 47-year-old launched several rants in the courtroom, including threats that he would be back in the dock and ‘it will get worse’.
In another case, a rapist was kicked out of court and screamed f****** rat” towards their victim as he was escorted to the cells by two security guards.
In yet another incident, a mum’s ex-husband ranted “it’s all lies” as he was kicked out of court after her XL bully mauled a maintenance man at a caravan park.
Another defendant shouted “I’m coming for you lad to” to a police officer as he was found guilty of attempted murder.
